An internship with Representative Lauren Cheape Matsumoto provides a unique opportunity to work with a legislator in the House of Representatives - giving you insight into our local legislative process and how we work to improve our community, district, and state. The Hawaii State Legislative Session usually takes place between January and May every year. Students who are sophomores and above are eligible to apply. Legislative Internships will begin on the first day of the Legislative Session in January and conclude in May. Year-round internships are also available for interested students. Acceptance into the High School and College Internship Program are based upon the applicant’s experience and interests. Specific hours required for the internship will be agreed upon by the intern and Representative Matsumoto and generally depend on scheduled events in the community.
